President Kufuor arrives for 3-day Upper East tour

Paga (U/E), Oct. 24, GNA - President John Agyekum Kufuor on Sunday arrived at Paga by air to begin a three-day official tour of the Upper East Region.

He was met by the Regional Minister, Mr Mahami Salifu, Mr C.K. Tedam and Mr Francis Afoko, both members of the Council of State, Madam Hawa Yakubu, MP for Bawku Central, Mr Andrews Awuni, Deputy Minister of Information, Mr Joseph Akudibilla, Deputy Defence Minister, District and Municipal Chief Executives, and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Officials. President Kufuor would address separate durbars of the chiefs and people of the Paga, Builsa and Chiana Traditional Areas late on Sunday.

Other activities on his itinerary for the first day of the tour include a visit to the Navrongo Health Research Centre, the Navrongo Campus of the University of development Studies (UDS) and Saint John Bosco's Teacher Training College in Navrongo.

He would wrap up the day's activities with a durbar of the chiefs and people of the Kassena-Nankana Traditional Area in Navrongo.

Among those accompanying President Kufuor on the tour, are Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City, General Joshua Hamidu, Ghana's High Commissioner to Nigeria and Mr Stanley Adjiri Blankson, Chief Executive of Accra.
