Akuafo Hall Traditional Council calls on Youth and Sports Minister

The Akuafo Hall Traditional Council of the University of Ghana, has paid a courtesy call on Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister for Youth and Sports, to officially congratulate him and also to invite him to their 30th anniversary celebration.

The delegation, led by Osabarima Boakye Tano III (Chief Farmer, Akuafo Hall), said it was a privilege to meet Mr Asiamah, who was a product of the hall and a former Chief Farmer from 1999-2000 and also seek advice and learn from him about their upcoming annual celebration.

Mr. Asiamah, who confirmed his participation and commitment to the independent body in the Hall responsible for its student’s welfare noted that, he was ever ready to help celebrate a hall, that was promoting Ghanaian culture.

According to him, being a former Chief Farmer, he knows the importance of what the council exhibits and that a nation cannot make progress if it forgets about its culture, which was being exhibited in every sense by the Akuafo Hall Council.

He noted that through the training he received from the council and his days at the Akuafo Hall, he is very determined to leave a lasting legacy at the Ministry, which has been a slippery grounds for many sports ministers.

“The foundation of every successful person or people depends on the good values and manners learnt or acquired, which is helping me a lot.

“The Akufo Addo led Government is very determined to develop the nation through sports, which is an avenue to eradicate crime and social vices by investing heavily in infrastructural development nationwide.

“We are building ten multi-purpose youth and development centers across all regions in Ghana, we have come to repair, refurbish and add-up to Ghana’s existing sports infrastructures,” he added.

The Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua constituency in the Ashanti Region also said since the activities of the council was youth based, his outfit in consultation with the National Youth Authority, would make sure that the image of culture being raised by the Akuafo Hall Council, would not go unnoticed as they prepare for their anniversary celebration in November, 2018.
