The Black Starlets of Ghana are set to for their opening game of the 2018 U17 WAFU Zone B tournament ongoing in Niger.

The tournament serves as a qualifier for the U17 AFCON to be played next year in Tanzania to determine Africa’s representatives at the for the youth world cup.

Nathaniel Adjei, assistant captain of the side and a player of Danbort FC is highly optimistic of securing the sole slot available from Zone B after all 20-man squad for the tournament passed the MRI test.

“We have great squad, everybody is ready. We know it won’t be easy but we believe in the coach,” Adjei, told Ghanasports.

“Our objective is to clinch the sole slot available from Zone B but we must take it match after match and right now we are focused on the opening game against Niger. We have what it takes to do what we came here to do.”

Ghana is paired together with Niger the host and neighbors Togo in Group A with Nigeria, Cote d’ Ivoire, Burkina Faso making up group B.
