Government buys 50 buses for military

Fifty Eicher buses purchased for the Ghana Armed Forces by the government have been cleared at the Port of Tema.

Although details are not forthcoming about the buses, their arrival is in fulfillment of a promise by government to ensure the comfort of the officers, men and women in the colours.

Both the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority and the military would not say much about the vehicles but their ownership is not in doubt as clearly inscribed on their sides – Ghana Armed Forces.

When reached the Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul confirmed the arrival of the buses saying only that it is intended to ease the transportation needs of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Although the mode of distribution is unknown given the highest number of buses to be imported yet for the military it is expected that the various units of the military would have their share.

The Minister of Defence is out of town and would definitely have the opportunity of inaugurating the addition to the fleet of the Ghana Armed Forces.

The Indian made Eicher buses are said to be robust and primed for heavy duty operations and would therefore serve the peculiar needs of the military.

The arrival of the buses is coming on the heels of the presentation by the government of 150 saloon cars for the Ghana Police Service.

The presentation is intended to expectedly support the law enforcement agency in their fight against crime.
