Pressure keeps mounting on the Bank of Ghana to hold accountable directors and former heads of banks it has collapsed. Last week the Bank of Ghana collapsed 5 Banks; Capital Bank, Sovereign Bank, The Beige Bank, uniBank and Construction Bank, into one bank - Consolidated Bank of Ghana.

A week after this move, reports of investigations conducted into the operations of the collapsed banks have indicted some heads of the collapsed resulting in calls for them to be probed by relevant agencies.

Some individuals and business owners including political figures whose loans and business practices allegedly contributed to the collapse of the banks have also emerged in some reports. These include Effutu MP, Afenyo Markins and brother of former President Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama.

Also this week, President Akufo-Addo after almost two years in government conducted his first ministerial reshuffle. The hardest hit were Gender Minster Otiko Djaba who has been nominated Ambassador-designate to Italy and Information Minister who has been transferred to Zongo and Inner City Development Ministery. Former Deputy Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah witnessed the biggest gain with his elevation to the position of Information Minister.

These changes some have suggested fell short of expectations as many were of the view that the President will use the opportunity to reduce the size of his government which currently stands at 111.

Before the reshuffle, the week started with the sacking of former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko by the President because of matters arising from the alleged renegotiated AMERI deal which is yet to be approved.

There was massive public backlash after details of the alleged renegotiated deal got into the public domain with many suggesting it was worse than the initial agreement the government sought to revise.

Though it was initially widely speculated that the sack was because the Energy Minister had misled the president, Communications Director as the Flagstaff House rejected such claims but maintained the sack was related to the revised deal. Boakye Agyarko went unto social media to assert that his side of the story will be heard at the appropriate time.
