President Kufuor tours City of Accra

Accra, Oct. 11, GNA - Thousands of supporters and sympathizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) mobbed President John Agyekum Kufuor when he toured some parts of the City of Accra on Monday to inspect some development projects.

Shiekh Ibrahim Cudjoe Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister, Nii Stanley Adjiri Blankson, Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive and Mr Jake Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Tourism and Modernisation of the Capital City accompanied President Kufuor.

Riding in an open cross-country vehicle from the Kwame Nkrumah Circle through the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue to Okaishie, WATO Club and Opera Square, President Kufuor responded to the deafening cheers of the crowd made up of the elderly and the youth.

At the Opera Square, President Kufuor inspected work on the on-going 700 million cedis Terminal for the Metro Bus Transport Company. The project being financed by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) began in June and is scheduled for completion in December.

President Kufuor continued the tour through the Kojo Thompson road, Makola market, Fire Service and Tudu, the Ministries to the Castle, Osu. Shiekh Quaye told newsmen after the tour that it was to enable President Kufuor acquaint himself with some ongoing projects in the City.

He said a programme for an official working visit to the Region by President Kufuor was being planned.
