Ghana midfielder Ebenezer Ofori has played down the notion that players honour national assignment for monetary purposes - claiming that it adds value a player.

The former New Edubiase United midfielder, who is currently on loan at Major League Soccer side New York City FC from Bundesliga side Stuttgart stated that even though football happens to be the profession he has chosen to fend for himself, wearing the white and black jersey of Ghana is a pleasure, an honour and enough for him as a player.

“Playing for the national team as a player places some sought of ‘respect tag’ on you because the respect you gain from your teammates, coaches and even football loving fans is unbelievable and that only is enough for me.”

“Even though football is the profession through which I earn my daily meal, playing for the Black Stars is a different ball-game because it’s also a pleasure and honour to be in that national jersey,” Ofori stated on Angel FM
