Former Fenebarhce star Yaw Preko has urged his Ghanaian compatriot Andre Ayew to ‘play with his heart’ so as to be a hit at the Turkish club.
The attacker joined the Istanbul side on Friday from Swansea City on an initial loan deal.
Ayew, 28, was handed the contract with Fenerbahce to become the fourth Ghanaian to play for the SuperLig side after Preko, Sam Johnson and Stephen Appiah.
Preko has asked Ayew to hit the ground running so as to convince the fans of his new club of his loyalty.
“At Fenerbahce, you’ll have to play with your heart,” Preko said.
“Thanks to television and the internet they are very much aware of the pedigree of Dede but they want to see it on the pitch.
“Turkish fans are just like Ghanaians, they want to see their players fully committed.
“So from his [Ayew] first game, he must show them what he is made up for and the fans will forever be for you. No wonder the Ghanaians that had played there [Fenerbahce] were successful.”
Ayew could have handed a further two-year contract if he impresses during the loan stint.
