Mahama received ESB not monthly salary - Mogtari rubbishes newspaper reportage

Former President John Mahama's Special Aide, Joyce Bawa Mogtari has disclosed that former First Lady Lordina Mahama could possibly be the one taking care of the husband, Ex-President John Dramani Mahama, since the current administration has failed to pay his (Mahama's) constitutionally approved monthly salary.

But Joyce Bawa Mogtari has insisted in a telephone conversation that what was paid into the ADB account of former President John Mahama was his End of Service Benefit and not his monthly salary as the Daily Guide has reported it.

She added that none of the staff members of the office of former President Mahama has received any monthly salary and that the former President still operates from his private home as his office.

According to Joyce Bawa, the former first lady Lordina Mahama is a very hard working woman who is still running and managing her businesses; thus, she [Bawa] cannot tell if former President Mahama borrows money from his wife but she is sure Lordina is helping her husband at home.

“Maa Lordina is a very hard working woman; she is still running and managing her businesses and so I am sure that maybe she is the one taking care of our father [John Mahama] and by God’s grace everything is well but what government should give to them, none has been given . . . I can’t tell if he [Mahama] borrows money from her, but I know Maa Lordina is someone who helps her husband a lot,” she revealed on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show.

“Let me put it on record that up to date, everything the Edu-Buandoh Committee recommended which were largely adopted by the Parliament of the Republic of Ghana for implementation, all of the conditions under that particular document; the emolument documents, none of them have been met and none are being met,” Joyce Bawa stated.

Mahama’s Special Aide further stated that letters have been sent to the office of the Chief of Staff at the Flagstaff House but nothing has been received.

Madam Joyce Bawa Mogtari bemoaned that her boss former President Mahama is not enjoying the same privileges and courtesies that were accorded the office of former President Kufour and former President Rawlings.

“Mahama has not been given a house, an office and the salary he is supposed to receive has not been given to him. None of his staff has received any salary from the seat of government,” she bemoaned.

Meanwhile, after these revelations from the camp of former President John Mahama, the Daily Guide newspaper in its Thursday, July 27 edition published that the office of former President Mahama is peddling propaganda by claiming the current NPP administration has failed to pay Mr. John Mahama his monthly salaries since he left office.

Daily Guide claims a document it has clearly shows that the former President Mahama has received his full monthly salary since the NPP took office.

“In fact, Mr. Mahama has so far been paid more than half a million Ghana cedis since the NPP took office on January 7, 2017. The documents reveal that the current government was initially unable to pay the salary, as it had not settled down, and this position is supported by the fact that government at the beginning of its term did not pay its own staff,” Daily Guide reports.

“The documents however reveal that former President John Mahama received his salary arrears of Ghc29, 899 for 12 months, totalling Ghc388, 687 which was paid into his ADB account at Adabraka branch...the former President has been consistently receiving his monthly salary of Ghc29, 899 from January 2018 to July 18, 2018”.

According to Daily Guide reportage, approval was given to pay all the six staff at the office of the former President and the six staff members are taking home an annual salary of a whopping Ghc688, 488.00 at the end of every year.
