Belgium based Ghanaian defender, Daniel Opare, has opened up on why he joined Royal Antwerp despite the numerous offers for his signature.

The 27-year-old nomadic defender made a return to the Belgium PRO on a two-year deal after enjoying four stellar seasons with Standard Lierge.

Speaking to the club’s official website on why he joined the traditional heavyweights, the former Real Madrid Castilla rearguard revealed his love for the new project at Antwerp, as he looks forward to playing a crucial role in the long-term project.

“I have full confidence in the project of Royal Antwerp and the plans of the club management,” Daniel Opare told the club website.

Opare saw his contract with German Bundesliga side, FC Augsburg, terminated after he was spotted contacting other clubs for improved deals whiles still in their books.
