The Aspiring Ashanti Regional Chairman for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Alhaji Mohammed Sannie has said that government’s decision to ban ministers from travelling outside the country won’t yield any positive result.

According to him, President Akufo-Addo and his NPP government are noted for deceiving Ghanaians and that the latest development isn’t an exception.

The ace politician speaking on Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkrah, claimed that some ministers, despite government’s ban left the country over the weekend.

"Kwame let me tell you, this ban won’t work, why is NPP trying to deceive Ghanaians with the said government order” he quizzed.

"I can tell you on authority that most of the people who have been banned from travelling are not happy with the development and that it won’t work irrespective of the statement issued by the presidency.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief of Staff Samuel Abu Jinapor has said that the ban of ministers’ travels is to help the government to standardise the modalities by which appointees leave the country.

According to him, the Presidency is keen on making sure appointees are available to perform their local duties hence the decision to control how appointees leave the shores.

“…the idea is to fashion out standardised guidelines where every government official will know that with an invitation of this nature and given the guidelines, will be granted permission or not,” Mr. Jinapor said in a separate interview in Accra.
