Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is happy with the quality of players in Ghana Premier League and believes some could make it to the highest stage.

The 32-year-old, who enjoyed a successful campaign with Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig, is currently in the country on vacation and watched on as his former club Liberty Professionals shared the spoils 1-1 with Asante Kotoko in matchday 14 on Wednesday.

“I've seen a lot of talents in the Ghana Premiere League but I wouldn't want to mention names. In the game between Liberty and Asante Kotoko, there were couple of players who were playing incredibly well,” Gyan said.

“Ghana continues to nurture pure talents in abundance and it's good for the future because some can reach the highest level. But what keeps hindering the players' progress is the field they play on so we need to look at that angle too, he added.

Gyan, however, believes Liberty should've won the game since they were the better side against Kotoko.

“I feel Liberty should have won the game yesterday. They had a couple of chances that should have been scored. The players were playing against a top side like Kotoko so a stalemate can be accepted somehow,” he said.

Liberty have amassed 16 points and occupy 11th position.
