The District Chief Executive of Birem North, Mr. Raymond Nana Damptey, on Monday May 28th, 2018 sent about 99 out of 110 workers home for reporting to work late.

The workers who are habitual latecomers, he noted, have been warned on several occasions but have failed to abide by the laid down procedures that govern their work.

Speaking to Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the DCE said, the affected workers have been cautioned and they promised to turn over a new leaf however, the affected workers failed to report to work so I directed them to go home yesterday.

Narrating the circumstances that led to his action the DCE said, ‘’we were not pleased at their attitude towards work. We have complained on several occasions but they have failed to obey our rules and regulations.

We even spoke to them just last week but they failed to listen. What I observed was that, whenever the DCE and other senior officers were absent from work, the workers do whatever they want.

What happened yesterday was to serve as a deterrent and they have been cautioned and should they repeat this same mistake, they will be dismissed.’’ According to him, more than 80 per cent of his staff reported to work on time today [Tuesday] due to the action he took yesterday [Monday].
