Bamba supporters stand by him

Wenchi, Sept 06, GNA - Supporters of Alhaji Moctar Musa Bamba, NPP MP for Wenchi East, at the weekend affirmed their intention to rally behind him in his bid to go independent in the December elections. The MP lost the primary to Professor George Gyan Baffour and immediately declared that he would go solo but would continue to support the NPP.

Mr Kwame Dante, Assembly Member for Akrobi Electoral Area in Wenchi District, said at a press conference that Alhaji Bamba would "definitely retain the seat following his unavoidable line of action to stand as an independent candidate".

He expressed regret about the "rippling repercussions of massive vote-buying and ethnic vendetta" prior to the defeat of the MP at the primary.

The supporters and friends of Alhaji Bamba organized the conference at Wenchi.

Mr. Dante alleged that in the course of campaigning prior to the election, "a greater number of executives of the party campaigned against the incumbent."

"The executives could not give a moment's thought to the rippling effects of their actions. They might not be able to influence the greater number of the electorate by their acts of omission and commission".

He cautioned that without the support of Alhaji Bamba, NPP would definitely lose the seat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

"Alhaji will fight tooth and nail to retain the seat as from all indications the majority of the populace are with us", Mr. Dante said.
