Akufo-Addo, NPP mourn Appiah Menka

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his deputy, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as well as former president John Agyekum Kufour and some Ministers of State, today, Thursday, 24 May 2018 joined the family of the late lawyer and New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart Akenten Appiah Menka for his burial and funeral rites.

The late businessman’s funeral took place at the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC) in Kumasi.

His body is, however, to be conveyed to his home town, Aboabugya for burial.

Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, who read a tribute on behalf of the state, described the late politician as patriotic.

He said Appiah Menka served the nation with “honesty and integrity.”

Mr Appiah Menka, a founding father of the governing NPP, died Tuesday, 13 February 2018.

He was 84.



He served as a Minister of State in the Second Republic.

The private legal practitioner and businessman is also known for producing the popular Appino soap.

He was a member of the Constitution Review Commission which was established by the Mills administration.

He left behind a wife and 13 children.
