Some coffin manufacturers in the Kumasi Metropolis have called on the government to consider establishing a coffin factory in Kumasi as part of its policy of one district one factory.

According to them, this will place them on a monthly salary to improve on their well-beings to save them from low patronage of their products.

Manufacturers at Asafo, a suburb of Kumasi, known as the hub of ‘coffin making’ in the Ashanti region, speaking to Otec News’ reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng on Friday, May 11, 2018, said the establishment of the coffin factory will also delivery them from the huge capital that involve in the coffin production that has kept most people jobless.

They believed the high cost of the coffin, which they attributed to the high cost of the materials, were some of the reasons for the poor patronage of their product.

They also attribute it to opening of coffin sales outlets in the rural areas, which makes it impossible for them to travel to the city to buy coffin.

They bemoaned over the perception that coffin makers pray for people to die in order to patronage their products, and thus called on the public not to see them as “evil beings”.
