The politician talks about the 2016 electoral misfortune of the National Democratic Congress asserting that the NDC party had a ‘backward-looking’ campaign message that failed to convince electorates in the 2016 polls.


In his conversation with GhanaWeb Editor, Kwabena Kyenkyenhene Boateng, the NDC flagbearer hopeful said NDC literally had no message for Ghanaians about it vision in 2016-2020, the period for which it was seeking re-election.

Spio-Garbrah who described the 2016 campaign message as “backward-looking” argued that the party focused on past achievements at the expense of what it was willing to offer Ghanaians in the years ahead.

Making a case for why he should be elected flagbearer of NDC, the astute politician touted his records and stressed how he was heavily praised and encouraged by late former President John Atta Mills to lead the party in his[Atta Mills'] absence.

The Former Minister also slammed the incumbent government describing its flagship programs including the Free SHS as a populist move.
