Adaklu Assembly pays BECE registration for candidates

The Adaklu District Assembly has paid in full, the registration fees of all candidates writing this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examinations, [BECE] in the District.

The Assembly with support from Kwame Agbodza, Member of Parliament for the area is also organizing vacation classes for the candidates at the cost of GH¢20,000.00 to improve its BECE records.

Mr. Phanuel Kadey Donkor, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE) disclosed this at the second session of the Adaklu District Assembly meeting at Adaklu Waya.

Similar strategies in 2017, pushed the District to top the BECE table in the Volta Region with over 80 per cent.

The DCE said the investment was for the District to maintain its position and make Adaklu the cradle of education in the Region, and called on parents to support the commitment of the Assembly to education and ensure that children were in school.

Mr. Donkor said the Assembly in 2017 generated a total revenue of GH¢296,732.89 representing 96 per cent of its projected revenue of GH¢310, 400.60.

He added that the situation was getting worse with only GH¢42, 481.00 generated in the first quarter of 2018, representing 15 per cent of its revenue target, and charged members and staff of the Assembly to redouble efforts at revenue generation.
