Volta River Authority celebrates 57th anniversary

The Volta River Authority on Thursday, April 26th celebrated its 57th anniversary on the theme “The new VRA, powering the future” in Accra.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Director of Engineering and Services, Ing. Kofi Ellis said, the VRA since its inception has worked assiduously to provide Ghana and beyond with good services.

He added the Authority as part of its celebration has decided to honor some students who excelled during a quiz competition organized at the 22nd Ghana International Trade Fair.

“As part of our social citizenship duties, we have decided to present awards to some persons who have distinguished themselves in various levels of education, we want to commend them for their work,” he said.



The six schools which emerged winners at the quiz competition, the Janelex International School, Salvation Army, Doblo-Gonno Methodist Basic School, Jay’s International, East London International and the Bishop’s Mixed JHS, will be presented with certificates and books to build on their knowledge.

“These pupils will be presented with books to enhance their knowledge on the activities of the VRA,” he said.

Among the awardees was a female student from Takoradi Technical University who emerged as the best female Engineering student, Miss Joana Ampomah, she was awarded with a laptop and set of text books.
