Mr Kobina Amissah-Sam, a renowned Actor, has been appointed the brand Ambassador for Let’s Do It Ghana, an environmental organisation.

Let's Do It Ghana is the local branch of Let's Do It World, a global civic movement, with the goal of connecting people and organisations around the world to make the planet waste free.

The one-year renewable contract is to promote environmental cleanliness and sanitation campaigns among the Ghanaian populace, especially school children.

The brand Ambassador will, among other things, set up sanitation clubs in basic schools across the country to instil cleanliness among the youth.

Mrs Kate Opoku, Country Director of Let's Do It Ghana, said the organisation was exploring alternative avenues aimed at complementing the government's efforts of achieving a clean environment.

She said they sought to take the lead in effective waste management campaigns for a clean Ghana through volunteerism and community mobilisation, awareness raising and education, partnership building, research and the utilisation of sustainable waste management technologies including recycling.

"To achieve this, Let's Do It Ghana carries out a number of activities including developing waste map for Ghana; mobilising volunteers to conduct clean-up exercises for improved sanitation across the country," she said.

Other activities, she said, include rallying stakeholders around effective and efficient national policy on sanitation, and providing recommendation on best and tested waste management practices.

Mrs Opoku said Let's Do It World has declared September 15, 2018 as a "World Clean up Day" and it intends to get 150 countries including Ghana on board to take an extraordinary action of cleaning their respective countries using citizens.

The World Cleanup Day 2018 seeks to engage five per cent of the world's population to create lasting change on sanitation and that goes beyond just one day of incredible activism.

Mr Amissah-Sam, on his part, pledged to use his profession and followers to achieve results.

He, therefore, called on the media to support his activities to ensure a cleaner Ghana.

"I cannot achieve this alone and l will need your corporation in this direction," he added.

There were some actors and actresses to give their support to their colleague.
