National Insurance Training School on the drawing board

Winneba, Aug 12, GNA - A Deputy Commissioner of Insurance, Mrs Nyameke Kyiamah, has announced plans by the National Insurance Commission to establish a school to train insurance agents.

Mrs Kyiamah who made the announcement at the Fifth Triennial National Conference of the Agents of State Insurance Company Association (ASICA), at Winneba, said the National Insurance Training School, would disqualify agents who would fail to pass a certificate examination.

Mr Jacob Bonsu Erbyann, General Secretary of ASICA, appealed to the State Insurance Company (SIC), to ensure prompt payment of all insurance entitlements and service commission of the agents.

He said the agents were working hard to expand the corporate activities of the SIC in the rural areas and step up financial mobilization.

Mr Erbyann said out of the 15 billion cedis generated from the "Life Business" service, between January and December 2001 by the Company, 9 billion cedis came from the agents.

In 2002, 13 billion cedis out of the 20 billion cedis revenue generated came from the agents, while between January and July this year over 11 billion cedis, out of the 20 billion cedis netted were collected by the agents.
