'Ghana doesn’t belong to Akyem people' - Koku Anyidoho to Akufo-Addo

The Deputy General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC], Koku Anyidoho has said Ghana does not belong to President Akufo-Addo and Akyeam people and that he has no moral right to sell the country to US.

His comments comes after reports engulfed in the Ghanaian media that President Akufo-Addo and his NPP government were billed to sign an agreement which will allow the US military unfettered access to some facilities close to the Kotoka International Airport after setting its base in the country.

He says, President Akufo-Addo can’t take Ghanaians and for that matter the minority for granted and allow the US to set its base in Ghana.

”Ghana doesn’t belong to Akufo-Addo nor Akyeam people same way it doesn’t belong to Ken Ofori Atta and his family” Koku Anyidoho told Austine Woode on Abusua Nkommo on Friday.

The NDC, led by its Secretary-General Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, on Thursday, March 22 at a presser suggested that the American government has influenced President Akufo-Addo with an award, favourable comments and promise of aid hence his ”indecent haste” to ratify an unfavourable military agreement between the two countries.

The NDC say they will resist any attempt to by President Akufo-Addo to undermine Ghana’s sovereignty by signing the necessary documents to grant US the permit to finally set its base in Ghana.

However, the government says the Minority in Parliament is being hypocritical in its stance over Ghana-US Military cooperation agreement which has become a subject of controversy since Monday.
