BHOBU '98 to mark 20th anniversary in grand style

The 1998 Year Group of Bishop Herman College (BHOBU ’98) will on Saturday 24th of March 2018, kick-start activities marking its 20th Anniversary celebrations with a homecoming trip to the school.

The Group will take the opportunity to make a donation of 100 metallic/wooden mono desk at a cost of GHC30,000 to the school and award beneficiaries of its flagship annual scholarship awards.

The President of the ’98 Year Group, Charles Goh said, “it is without a doubt that the free SHS policy instituted by the government has stretched facilities in many schools across including Bishop Herman College and government cannot do it all”.

The President added that, “it is our hope that our initiatives will go a long way to address the infrastructure challenges of the school and more importantly, challenge other year groups to follow our lead”.

The Group will also take the opportunity to unveil the next batch of scholarship beneficiaries under its flagship scholarship awards, the BHOBU ’98/AMPER scholarship.

Since 2015/16 academic year, Bhobu98 awards full scholarship to 6 brilliant-but-financially challenged students each year.

The scholarship awards, which is in its 3rd year, has seen 18 students benefited from the scheme since its inception. With the assistance of AMPER Onlus, an Italian NGO, the group has spent €7500 on the scholarship scheme so far. “We remain committed to supporting our alma mata and we hope other year groups will do same”, the president added.

Other activities scheduled to take place as part of the 20th Anniversary of the Group include, a lecture series, fun games, health walk and will be climaxed in December 2018 with Grand Homecoming.
