David K. Gyewu appointed Acting Director-General for NITA

David K. Gyewu has been appointed as Ag. Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA) with immediate effect.

Mr. Gyewu is an experienced business operations strategist and technology specialist with experience at a high and senior level in both the private sector and governmental administration.

He holds an MSc, IS and Management from the Kingston University, Executive Education from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School and his leadership abilities were acknowledged with a teaching assistantship at the Harvard Kennedy School after graduating from same school.

Mr. Gyewu was appointed Deputy Minister of Communications and Technology in 2003 and was the youngest member of the country’s ministerial team at the time. He also served as Special Assistant at the Office of the President in the Kufuor administration.

He has considerable experience in IT, Economics, Business, and Governmental issues, having served for several years in senior corporate management working with multinationals including Philips, DSM, ABN-AMRO Bank, ICI, Singapore Government, Haliburton, Coca Cola (Australia) and the European Space Agency. Prior to that he had worked at BOC and Unichem in the UK.

Until his appointment to the current post, he was the Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Communications and spearheaded the review of the World Bank funded E-Transform Project.
