Lets make Ghana's air TB free - Ghanaians urged

Director of National Tuberculosis Control Program, Dr. Frank Bonsu has asked all Ghanaians to get involved in the fight against Tuberculosis.

According to him, even though Tuberculosis is a pro-poor disease, rich people are not exempted from contracting the disease.

“Once you breathe air, you are at risk of contracting the disease and famous people around the world are known to have contracted Tuberculosis,” he said.

He said, globally the target for combating Tuberculosis will end in the year 2030 and the onus lies on Ghanaians to champion the course of ending the epidemic.

According to him, treating TB patient is for societal good adding that “I must add that treating Tb patient is for societal good, we are not doing anyone a favour”.

Dr. Bonsu said once TB patients are treated the whole society is protected from contracting the disease.

Dr. Bonsu was speaking at a media launch of the World Tuberculosis day held in Accra on Friday.

The celebration which is slated for Thursday, 22nd March is themed “wanted, leaders for a TB free Ghana, you can make history, end.
