BEIGE Care, a subsidiary of the BEIGE group has introduced a new health insurance policy called "Hewale".

Hewale is a private health insurance policy designed to cater for the general well being of low earners in society and to have access to quality healthcare.

According to BEIGE care, Hewale has been introduced to see to the health needs of people who can not afford the rather expensive private insurance.

The launch of Hewale insurance policy took place on Wednesday at the Kaneshie Market Complex. The product received a warm welcome from market women and traders who gathered at the launch.

The product is said to provide access to medical consultations, surgical treatment, prescribed drugs, diagnostics investigations and hospital accommodation.

The policy takes two months for the successfully registered client to access the product and anyone is eligible for the service. Hewale has been categorized into five main plans which are Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple and the sixth plan for people with chronic conditions.

Speaking with David Osei-Akoto, Managing Director of BEIGE Care, he stated that Hewale unlike other private health insurance tilted to the corporate world has been specially designed for every average Ghanaian.

He also stated that Ghana is struggling to have total health coverage because most private health insurance providers have focused their attention on corporate people and institutions leaving the informal sector behind.
