The recent abuse of females on social media has led the Women’s Commission (WOCOM) of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) to channel a path to inspire females through their “Sister Care” project.

GIMPA’s WOCOM mentored girls at the Kanda Cluster of Schools on Friday to use Social Media wisely to help them overcome the disrepute most girls at their age have fallen into in recent times.

The Women’s Commission advised the female students not to fall victim to male friends who demand nude pictures and videos from them.

The JHS students had group discussions with the each of the fifteen ladies from GIMPA who interacted with them and shared some mindboggling experiences.

Addressing the students, Women’s Commissioner, Sadia Mohammed said the mission of the “Sister Care” project is to impact the girl child in both Junior High and Senior High Schools on the positive and negative effects of social media.

She said, “The negative stuff on Social Media overrides the positive. Use Social Media for educational purpose, create your career path and write stories, you don’t have to go there and watch or post negative stuff which will not do you any good in the long run.”

Sadia Mohammed urged the girls not become victims of Social Media videos and desist from sexual relationships and rather focus on their education.

“If a man tells you he loves you so let’s do a sex tape, know the right thing to do, say no. Don’t even attempt to have sex. Boys will always show things to their friends out of excitement and before you realize your video has gone viral,” she stressed.

Sadia Mohammed popularly known as ‘Hajia Can Do’ and her colleagues mentored the students on courses to offer in their higher education, which best suits their profession to help them nurture and sharpen their talents.
