EC conducts mop up registration for Armed Forces

Takoradi, July 29, GNA - Personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces in the Western Region who could not register during the recent voters registration and photo-taking exercises begun to do so at the Takoradi Air force Station on Tuesday.

They included personnel who were on peacekeeping missions outside the country and those who for other reasons could not participate in the exercises, Mr Samuel Amoako-Gyasi, an official of the Electoral Commission (EC) told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Thursday.

He said that as at 1100 hours on Thursday, 207 personnel out of the expected 330 had registered and obtained their photo identity cards. Mr Amoako-Gyasie pointed out, however, that those whose names were not in the "Master List" provided by the security services were not issued with registration cards. 29 July 04
