An educationist, Mr. Emmanuel Abban, has condemned the influx of foreign Telenovelas in the country saying it has adverse effects on the educational and cultural system of Ghana.

Mr. Annan who was speaking during a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) discussion on sustainable development goals at Montessori School in Cape Coast stated that these telenovelas are gradually erasing the unique culture of Ghana.

He advised the general public to embrace the Ghanaian culture by acting and encouraging local movies instead of thinking globally to improve the educational system in the country.

“We need to strengthen the education of the students to value what we have, very often we are leaving the education for teachers and forgetting that when they leave school for home, parents are supposed to teach them culture values” Culture Educator observed.

The UNESCO discussion was aimed at educating the students about Children in Slave societies in the wake of the rising number of since children being trafficked and forced into child labour in some parts of the country.

Mr. Annan further underscored the need to make African culture play a role so that other countries can also learn from it especially the rich Ghanaian culture which has been an envy to others.
