The Ministry of Health (MoH) has instructed the Medical Director at the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital, Dr Eugene Dordoye to step aside.

A meeting this afternoon by the ministry of health to resolve the impasse concluded that Dr. Dordoye should step aside and undertake a course to improve his human relations.

Public Relations Officer of the MoH, Robert Cudjoe, who spoke to Class News moments after a meeting by the ministry on Friday, 16 February 2018, said: “Definitely another person is going to be appointed very soon”.

He added that: “About 90 percent of the allegations [against Dr Dordoye] bother on his attitude, management and all that so there was a recommendation to give him some sort of training to re-equip him”.

Dr. Dordoye is also to undertake courses that will improve his human relations.

The decision was taken at a special meeting that was prompted by intense pressure for his removal by nurses and physician assistants at the health facility.

The medical staff yesterday laid down their tools in protest against the presence of Dr. Dordoye at the hospital as they argued that he was posing a danger to their mental and physical health.

The group embarked on a similar action last year after they gave government a 3-day ultimatum to fire the Medical Director.

In their recent action they vowed to stay away from the facility until what they considered as danger to them was removed.
