SoNA2018: Akufo-Addo lauds 3K Ecobank jobs

President Akufo-Addo President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has lauded Ecobank Ghana Ltd for offering some 3,000 jobs to unemployed youth in Ghana.

The youth will be drawn from among successfully participants in the Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship Programme at the Accra Digital Centre being organised by government.

“I am happy to announce that Ecobank Ghana Ltd has already offered to engage all 3,000 young people, after the training programme. This is just the tip of the iceberg,” President Akufo-Addo stated when he delivered his second State of the Nation Address in Parliament on Thursday, February 8.

The programme, with ten regional training centres, has already recruited young, unemployed people, to undergo a 3-month all-expenses-paid training. The nationwide training programme will provide Ghanaians between the ages of 18 and 35 years with a basic appreciation of internet and social media skills.

President Akufo-Addo also indicated that government has established the Nation Builders Corps to employ 100,000 young persons, in 2018 alone, to assist in public sector service delivery in health, education, agriculture, sanitation and the revenue collection department of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

“We have put in place the structures to help small and medium scale enterprises and budding entrepreneurs through the challenging start-up years. The availability of cheaper credit is good news for business in general, and means better prospects for jobs,” he underscored.
