In less than 24 hours, President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would deliver his second State of the Nation Address, and as usual, Ghanaians are of high hopes and expectations.

To find out what some of these expectations are, ahead of the SoNA which comes off at the Parliament House on January 8, 2018, Ghanaweb has been speaking to a section of Ghanaians on some streets of the nation’s capital, Accra.

Most of them want the president to address the hikes in fuel prices which they say is affecting businesses and making life difficult for citizens.

A frustrated driver says, “Fuel prices have been increased twice if not more, ever since this administration resumed office. We’re really suffering and we need the President to solve that issue for us because it is really affecting our job.”

They also urged President Akufo-Addo to kick start the much talked about “One-district, one-factory” to create jobs for the unemployed youth.

According to them, the rise in unemployment has led to a surge in many social vices, especially armed robbery.

A food vendor cried, “things are hard, people are not patronizing our stuff. Seriously there is no money in the system and so we are pleading with the president to pump money into the system and create jobs too”.
