The Minister for Local Government, Hajia Halima Mahama has incurred the wrath of the Northern Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu who has accused her of creating problems for him in the region.

Mr Naabu who indicates the Minister in concert with the District Chief Executive (DCE) for East Mamprusi are frustrating efforts in conducting polling station elections in the Gambaga constituency where the Minister is the Member of Parliament, has vowed to hold them responsible should anything untoward happens.

He blamed the conduct of the Minister for the rescheduling of polling station elections in the area indicating that she was said to have through the DCE hijacked forms meant for polling station contenders for fear that the Deputy Coordinator of Nationa Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Peter Wuni who is eying the Gambaga seat will ensure his favourites purchase the forms to contest.

“If there’s any problem regarding this election, I will hold them responsible. I’m not going to sit down and allow them to create problems. The DCE has no hand in any election, neither the parliamentary candidate, this is purely party issue”. He warned

“Already they are creating problems, that Alimah’s sanctioned side [only her faction] should be given the forms and some other side like Peter Wuni, the Deputy NADMO Director [coordinator] shouldn’t be given the forms. That is not acceptable, they are all NPP members, they’re all having the right to exercise their democracy [rights]” he fumed.

“I’m appealing to the National Chairman to warn her to stay away” he begged at a press conference on Wednesday.
