Former Spokesperson and Marketing Manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, Listowell Yesu Bukarson has described Kofi Maun’s claims that ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, twice tried to bribe as, “vain, baseless and an attempt to make himself relevant on the backs of the enviable image of Anas.

The Ghana Football Association Player Status Committee Vice Chairman is reported to have alleged that “Anas Aremeyaw Anas tried to set him up twice with bribes but he failed on both occasions”.

He is also said to have “bemoaned the ill tactics being used by the Anas and his crew but revealed that those of them who have been targeted are well aware of the plot and have become extremely cautious in dealing with people”.

“There is this grave attempt by some football people to disgrace FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi and those around him. Anas and his people have attempted to set me up twice but on both occasions, they failed. I was offered a bribe of GHC3,000 and another which was over GHC 20,000 to approve the floating status of some players but I rejected both. Kofi Manu is said to have further revealed on Happy FM.

But Mr. Bukarson believes that these comments are unfair and attempts by the FA to run away from its shadows.

“Why does Kofi Manu think he is so important that Anas will twice try to set him up,” He asked.

“Maybe Kofi Manu and his FA are beginning to smell that, as calls for the implementation of the White Paper on the Dzamefe Commission’s report intensify, the government will begin to go after them,” He said.

Adding that, “who doesn’t know, or suspect that there is massive corruption at the FA. Must it always take Anas to investigate, set people up to expose them? Is Anas the only investigative journalist”?

“If Kofi Manu saw Anas, trying to bribe him. Not once but twice, why didn’t he cause his arrest”? He questioned.

“I challenge him to cause the arrest and prosecution of Anas immediately or shut up”. If he can back his wild claims.

“Since bribery is a crime in Ghana, I call on the security agencies to pick up Kofi Manu to prove his case of allegations of bribery against Anas” Mr Bukarson said.

The Executive Director of Authentic Sports called on the government to implement the white paper on the recommendations from the investigations of the Dzamefe Commission without delay.

“Which Ghanaian would not want to understand where the coefficient of GHC577, 000 went after the GFA failed to account for it”? He asked.

“Am sure the issues are not about whether Anas tried umpteenth times to bribe anybody at the FA as a setup. The issues really are why the government will fly millions of dollars from Accra on a chartered flight to Brazil, such that Ghana became the mockery of the world after a player was seen kissing 100,000 dollars appearance fees. These are the issues. And these issues must be revisited, investigated and the culprits brought to book to sanitize the FA”. Mr. Bukarson stressed.

The Executive Director of The Press Foundation, TPF, and an International Freelance Journalist called on Ghanaians and the media to ignore what he called, “vain and panic” levels of accusations against the internationally acclaimed investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
