Waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL), has given Osu Klottey constituency and its adjoining communities in the Greater Accra Region, a face-lift by clearing tons of waste, weeds and rubbish that had engulfed the constituency.

The three-day exercise was aimed at keeping the area clean and also ensure that the National Thanksgiving Service for the year 2018, which came off last week Sunday at the Independence Square, Accra, was held in a clean environment.

About one hundred (100) Zoomlion workers were involved. They cleared weeds, which had grown along the roads in the constituency.

Other activities which were embarked on by the workers included sweeping, janitorial services and desilting of gutters and drains within the Osu Klottey constituency.

Interestingly, Osu Klottey was not the only area that benefited from the clean-up exercise, Zoomlion extended its arms to other sub-metros including Ashiedu Keteke and Ayawaso East, all in the Accra metropolis.

In an interview with the media, Zonal Coordinator- Accra Zone One of ZGL, Mr. Ralph Lokko, underscored that the exercise was aimed at inculcating the habit of keeping “our environs always clean.”

He called for more collaboration to help rid Accra of filth in order to avoid preventable diseases.

According to him, although the exercise was successful within the above areas, he bemoaned the continuous poor attitude of people towards the environment and its surroundings.

“We are encouraging all Ghanaians to keep their environs clean. If you don’t keep your environment clean, you are killing yourself because sickness and diseases can easily spread,” Mr. Lokko advised.

He advocated attitudinal change towards sanitation in the country.
