Youth will appreciate government soon - NYA CEO

Emmanuel Asigri, Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), has said the youth-focused plans and interventions put in place by the Akufo-Addo government will reduce youth unemployment drastically by the end of 2018.

According to him, these interventions including the Nations Builder Corps, is expected to employ over 500, 000 unemployed youth.

President Akufo-Addo promised to intervene in the graduate unemployment and unemployment in general.

Accordingly, he has initiated programmes including the Planting for Food and Jobs, the One-District-One-Factory programmme and others, to help deal with the situation.

Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of the Ghana Yensom show on Accra 100.5FM on Thursday January 18, Mr Asigri said: “All the interventions we are putting in place including the National Builders Corps and the other plans we have for youth,

“I strongly believe that before the end of 2018 we will be able to say that we have been able to deal with youth unemployment to a number of about 200,000 to 500,000.

“By the end of the first term of President Akufo-Addo in office, we will be able to beat our chest and say all the promises we made to the youth have been fulfilled and Ghanaians will appreciate.”
