The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Koans Building Solutions, Kofi Anokye has lamented that the construction industry under the current NPP government is still suffering.

According to Mr. Anokye, the governing NPP administration has not done anything to help the construction sector improve.

“We are being left to the mercy of the economy. They feel that when they 'decorate' the economy we will benefit,” he stated.

The Koans Building Solutions CEO said the smartest thing the government should have done in its first year of office is to 'ginger up' the construction industry to help curb the unemployment rate in the country.

In assessing the first year performance of the Nana Akufo-Addo administration the Koans Building Solutions CEO stressed that they never made plans for the construction sector in their first-year budget, hence nothing was allocated to the sector.

“So far as the construction industry is concerned, the government hasn’t done anything. I have never seen them commissioning any affordable housing,” he said.

Mr. Kofi Anokye further stated that “The first year forms just 25% of every President’s first term in office and therefore my assessment is based solely on my expectation of a government in the first year.”

He graded the President’s performance 64% in some key areas but said very little has been done in the construction sector, therefore, he did not include that sector in his assessment.

“I did not include Infrastructural Development because very little was done as government opted to stabilize the economy before moving into physical infrastructure which requires massive capital injection,” he stated.

He added Nana Akufo-Addo has a lot to do in that sector and therefore he should not turn his backs on the construction sector since it favour’s the economy and other social interventions.
