Four ‘problematic’ roundabouts yet to be removed three months after Minister’s order

The four problematic roundabouts at the Ejisu, Oduom, Boadi Junction and KNUST junction on the Kumasi – Accra highway which were ordered by the Minister of Roads and Highways Kwasi Amoako Atta on October 23, 2017, are yet to be removed, Otec news has learned.

The Minister of Roads and Highways Hon. Kwesi Amoako Atta last year ordered the immediate removal of four (4) different roundabouts to reduce series of accidents and vehicular traffic jams.

There have been several complains by motorists especially heavy-duty vehicles and long trucks for the removal of these nuisance roundabouts as it makes driving difficult for them.

Beginning his three (3)day tour to some road projects within Ashanti Region, Hon Amoako Atta announced that the said roundabouts will soon be closed down to improve good vehicular movement on the road.

This decision, according to the sector Minister, follows reports of the inconvenience and accidents caused by the narrowing of the roads by the cobblestones lined around the roundabout.

But after months of the Minister’s order, nothing has been done to remove those nuisance roundabouts.
