Reverend Jonathan Bettey Reverend Jonathan Bettey

Fired Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Reverend Jonathan Bettey has been accused of engaging in forgery by a Deputy Director of the service.

Acting Deputy Director General of GES, Anthony Boateng who made the wild allegation, claimed that the current rank of the sacked PRO was not attained on merit as he reportedly forged his promotional letter and has been receiving salary to that effect since April 2017.

“I personally confronted him on it and he admitted that the letter was forged to the rank of Deputy Director since April 2017 till date”, he revealed on Kasapa Fm in Accra.

Mr Anthony Boateng also rubbished claimed the transfer of Reverend Jonathan Bettey to Cape Coast in the Central region was politically motivated hinting that it was part of transfers to enable investigations be conducted on some allegations against him.

” I and my Director General took office early part of last year(2017) and we had a lot of issues we were dealing with. Then someone alerted us that there are some staff whose promotion letter they suspect was fraudulent. So we started investigations into the matter and I invited him and he admitted that he’s never attended any interview for promotion to level of Deputy Director. He was asked where he got the promotion letter from and he said it was a gift from the former Director General to him. Can you imagine this!”

He said they were only doing Reverend Bettey a favor following a litany of alleged criminal activities only for him to go public accusing authorities of the GES of transferring him based on political inclination.
