Despite the frequent programmes of immunisation of children against childhood diseases, about 60 babies out of 1000 live births still die from preventable diseases in Ghana.

The Vice Chairman of the Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health, Bright Amissah Nyarko has therefore called for a concerted effort to reduce the number of deaths among babies to zero.

He was speaking at a forum organized in Sunyani by the Coalition of NGOs in Health.

It was aimed at soliciting the support of Chiefs and the Media to give a boost to Ghana’s Expanded Programme on Immunisation to protect babies from premature death.
