Some seventy personnel of the National Youth Employment Authority in the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti region have been sacked.

The Authority was compelled to take the action because the personnel failed to turn up regularly to work for three months.

Disclosing this to Ultimate News, the Asokore Mampong Municipal director of the YEA Alice Anthony noted that the action could affect a lot more as about half of all the seven hundred youth registered under her office are not attending to their duty posts.

She told Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador that most of them complained they have no monies for transportation to and from work because their monthly allowances due them have not been paid for some months.

Justifying the dismissal she asked, “It is true they are complaining about their allowances but you are employed and you agreed to work so for how long are you going to stay at home waiting for allowances.”

Mrs Alice Anthony outlined that the sacked beneficiaries were working under the Community Health, Youth in Police and Fire service and the Environmental Protection modules.
