New-look for Nima Police Station

The Nima District Police Commander, Sup Paul Bampo has given a new-look to the Nima Police Station and by extension the President’s residence.

He has organised the planting of green grass on the façade of the station and generally landscaped the portions of the station overlooking President Akufo-Addo’s Nima residence and the Ring Road close to the traffic intersection.

Although the plants are in their growing stages, the interspersed pieces of white painted rocks have already introduced some beauty to the place, as they are towered by young ornamental palm trees.

The landscaped portions include the side overlooking the ring road close to the traffic intersection.

Sachet water and soft drink sellers, who usually take rest on the hitherto bare grounds, can no longer do so because the place is now being policed by Community Police Assistants to ensure that not only the water seller avoid the place but pedestrians also who walk on such places even with green grass and ornamental plants covering them.

Many residents hardly appreciate the beauty of landscaped lands.

A huge amount of money was pumped into enhancing the medians on the major ceremonial roads with ornamental plants and green grass, but pedestrians have turned many of them into walkways, the stressed green grass taking the colour of brown.

When DAILY GUIDE asked the senior police officer why he decided to take the trouble to change the face of the police station and the area in general, he said ‘plants and flowers beautify a place.

The President’s residence is across the road and so the need to beautify this place cannot be overlooked.

The botanical landscaping has added to the beauty of the Nima Police Station.

He said he would ensure that the place is watered regularly to ensure that the plants grow well to sustain the attained beauty.
