First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon. Joseph Osei Owusu has appealed to constituents and Ghanaian voters in general to reduce their financial demands from MPs since the situation is overburdening them.

According to him, some constituents go to the extent of describing their MPs as wicked because they were unable to meet their financial demands.

The MP for Bekwai said the demands from constituents drain their finances and yet some individuals who are unable to get such benefits, from the MPs become agitated and slam them.

Speaking at a gathering held over the weekend, the MP pleaded with the constituents to limit the financial demands they make so the MPs would be relieved.

It is very much common to see people at the car parks of MPs parading the corridors of the legislature seeking to make money off lawmakers.

He said the phenomenon where people demand money from Parliamentarians is reaching a crisis level and so I will appeal to Ghanaian voters to limit these demands.

Using an old age adage, he said the debtor also eats and so limit your demands on us.

He also said as a lawyer, he sometimes gets people who come to him to seek for assistance and assured his constituents that he will always to be there to serve his constituents.
