Traders in Kumasi say they regret going to the racecourse market following the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly failure to do a successful relocation exercise.

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) on November 6, 2017 embarked on a demolition exercise with the aim of vacating traders at Adum, Dr Mensah, Pampaso those selling at an unauthorized pavements to move to the racecourse market, an exercise the traders say did not help them.

Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo who is following the development reports that the traders did not adhere to the Kumasi Metropolitan Asssembly (KMA)’s directives and are still trading at an unauthorized places in the city.

The few transfers moved to the Racecourse market complained over low patronage of their goods with some stressing their businesses are on the verge of collapsing following KMA’s failure to ensure all traders selling on pavement are moved to the new location.

“We are urging the KMA mayor to force all selling at unauthorized places to come and join us here at racecourse else we will also go back to our usual places. Our businesses are collapsing since we record low sales here because our colleagues are still selling at the various roadside so why can’t them KMA force them to join us here’’
