Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has admonished beneficiaries of the Kufuor Scholars Programme to constantly offer humanitarian support to communities they find themselves in.

This, he said, will bridge the social and economic inequality gap between the privileged and the less-privileged in society.

“The whole idea of leadership is to serve and extend a hand of support to the less-privileged in the community. As scholars, you must be ambitious for humanity but with humility to transform your communities.” Mr Kufuor was advising the Scholars when they paid a visit to him at his residence in Kumasi to seek for his blessing before carrying out a health screening for over 200 children in Behenase in the Ashanti Region.

The Kufuor Scholars Programme was instituted by the John Agyekum Kufuor (JAK) Foundation to cultivate and mentor the next crop of transformational leaders and guide young scholars to become agents of social change for sustainable development.

Mr Kufuor reminded the Scholars that the Foundation stands for improving the lot of mankind, thus, the need for them extend humanitarian support to all without discrimination.

He commended them for assisting the over 200 children at Adom Baptist Children Development Centre in Behenase with dental screening.

A beneficiary of the Scholars Program, Aaron Atimpe, pledged on behalf of his colleagues not to deviate from what the JAK Foundation stands for.

The JAK Foundation seeks to promote effective leadership as the catalyst for good governance, and socioeconomic development through advocacy, programmatic interventions and strategic partnerships with institutions.
