The Minister of Education, Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh has disclosed that some former ministers he refused to name under the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, are busily chasing some appointees in the current administration for contracts they awarded to themselves during their tenure.

“I could even identify ministers who are still chasing for contracts they awarded themselves. They are pursuing their contract cheques. If you live in the glass house don’t throw stones because they will force me to come out”, he warned.

According to him, some of the contracts in question were awarded to party vigilante groups who even lacked the capacity to execute them which is why most of them remain in the state they are.

He advised the minority to take cues from former Minister of Finance, Mr Seth Tepker who analyzed 2018 budget but praised his successor for certain major decisions.

On claims he attacked the former Minister of Education, Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang, the Minister challenged her to provide a single policy document for the 200 Senior High Schools the NDC administration started.

“ I am not attacking her… she should produce one document that outline the policy  200 Senior High Schools. She should go into the budget and tell me where the line items were for the 200 schools. People forget they have been here”, he observed.

According to him, the NDC though did not run out of money because they were funded by the World Bank, they were unable to complete 200 during their term.

The Minister therefore challenged the NDC to show a policy document on the 200 SHS or stop trying to equate it with the free SHS saying they NPP failed to produce a policy document on the free SHS reason why there are challenges.

“I say she is an embarrassment to education. When she was here and was prosecuting the 200 Senior High Schools she could not finish 25% where was the policy document she brought to Ghanaians”, he quizzed?
