The Students Representative Council of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA, SRC) has warned some faceless politicians to stay way from NUGS matters.

The Group, in a statement jointly signed by its Local President, James Deku and SRC President Ernest Burke has served, "a stern warning to those partisan seeking politicians who have made it an annual ritual to invade the congress of NUGS through their student agents to desist from such acts as The Union prepares to hold its annual delegate congress".

They believed that, such partisan political manipulation of the affairs of NUGS has led to the total defiance of its aim of promoting and safeguarding the interest of the over 7 million Ghanaian students.

GIMPA SRC statement followed an alleged 'illegitimate NUGS Congress held at Methodist University College masterminded a National Youth Organizer of a particular political party'.

The said congress has produced one Elisha Oheneba Essumang a.k.a BOHYEBA, who our sources say he is a personal Aide to The CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan (NEIP), John Kumah.

Our source, again disclosed to GBCONLINE reporter, Francis Edzorna Mensah that, he was the Operations Manager of the MP for Ablekuma West and current Minister of Communications, Ursula Owusu Ekufo, during her 2012 campaigns.

Information available to GBCONLINE also indicated that, the Executives of NUGS on November 20, 2017 vetted aspirants for the 51st NUGS Congress from 21 to 22 November at Pentecost Convention Center, Kasoa.

GBCONLINE can also confirm that, there are fears among students ahead of the 51st delegates Congress.

Many of the students, including some aspirants who spoke to GBCONLINE on condition on anonymity called for adequate security protection before, during and after the Congress.

Below is the full statement:
HANDS OFF NATIONAL UNION OF GHANA STUDENTS (NUGS), GIMPA SRC WARNS POLITICIANS

The Students Representative Council of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA, SRC) wishes to serve a stern warning to those partisan seeking politicians who have made it an annual ritual to invade the congress of NUGS through their student agents to desist from such acts as the union prepares to hold its annual delegate congress.

We are of the firm believe that such partisan political manipulation of the affairs of the union has led to the total defiance of its aim of promoting and safeguarding the interest of the over 7 million Ghanaian students.

The current state of the union makes us wonder if really this has been the union that radically kick against undesirable government policies such as the introduction of the Prevention Detention Act (PDA) of CPP, the demonstration against the monotony of the free rice and chicken meal in the premier university halls of residence under the Progress Party under Dr. Busia among many others.

There is no inch of doubt that the image of NUGS continues to sink as controversies and legal battles is being the norm rather than rallying students to demand a better educational system with adequate infrastructure to promote quality learning.

The media has brought to the limelight various educational challenges confronting Ghanaian students such as basic school pupils sleeping on their stomach to write, crossing rivers to access education, astronomical hikes in school fees among other numerous challenges which needed to be championed by NUGS.

We are by this statement calling on all local NUGS secretariat and SRCs across all the various campuses in Ghana to arise for the union and wean its self from these political elements ganging the effectiveness of the union.

NUGS MUST WORK!!!

Education, A Right Not a Privilege
