Ghana defender Kasim Adams Nuhu wants to take after former Black Stars and Bayern Munich centre-back Samuel Osei Kuffour.

Kuffour is widely remembered for his time with the Bavarians, for whom he played from 1993 to 2005, and won the 2001 Uefa Champions League as well as the 2001 Fifa Club World Cup.

Having had his taste of both the Champions League and international football this season with the Young Boys, Adams is hoping to be the next great Ghana defender.

“Sammy Kuffour is amazing," the 22-year-old told Citi Sports.
"He’s someone I always look up to. He was a fighter and a leader. He’s everything a defender ought to be.

“I watch a lot of his videos on YouTube and I hope to be like him."
Kuffour also had stints with Italian clubs Roma and Livorno and Dutch side Ajax, before officially bowing out of the game with a testimonial encounter in 2011.

At the international level, the 41-year-old was a member of Ghana’s side that lifted the 1991 Fifa U17 World Cup and also won two silver medals at the 1993 Fifa U17 and Fifa U20 World Cups, as well as Bronze at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

He also featured in four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the 2006 World Cup with the Black Stars.

Adams, on the other hand, made his Ghana bow in an international friendly against Saudi Arabia last month, scoring one goal as the Black Stars claimed a 3-0 win.

He was in action as Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by Egypt on Sunday.
