MTN Ghana Foundation invests $13m on community projects in 10 years

MTN Ghana Foundation, since its inception in 2007 has not relented on its corporate social responsibility as it has invested not less than $13 million in improving the quality of lives of Ghanaians.

Board Chairman of MTN Ghana Foundation, Prof. Franklin Manu who made this revelation said, the foundation has been committed to improving education, healthcare and has embarked on many other community development projects in the country.

Speaking to the media after the official launch of the 10th anniversary of the foundation on October 30, Prof. Franklin Manu said the investments made spans across the construction of school buildings, libraries and ICT centres, enhancing teacher capabilities, constructing and equipping hospital wards and many more.

According to him, the foundation’s 10 years of existence has touched and enhanced the standard of living of many; a reason it will continue to support Ghanaians through education, health and economic empowerment.

“Over the 10 years, we’ve invested about $13 million in a variety of projects covering health, education and economic empowerment. Some of the projects are the refurbishment of the Korle-Bu Maternity Ward, the new Natal Centre at Tema General Hospital, we’ve done a lot of dormitories for secondary schools, and we’ve done a lot of health clinics all over the country,” he stated.

He further indicated that the foundation is currently supporting women in oil palm production at Dwaso in the Ashanti Region by helping them with the requisite facilities so they produce more oil for the market.

MTN Ghana Foundation was established in 2007 with its commitment centered on the socio-economic development of the country through the roll-out of appropriate and sustainable social interventions in communities all over the country.
