Sustainability and Social Investment Awards calls for entries

An award scheme aimed at recognizing corporate institutions who have invested into sustainable social projects has been launched in Accra.

Sustainability and Social Investment Awards is an initiative of IAB to encourage companies, CSI/ foundations, NGO’s and other implementing agencies in delivering high impact through CSI /CSR projects and adopt multi stakeholder approach leading to excellent outcomes.

According to the organizers, Sustainability Social Investment Awards is conceptualized to publicly recognize the impact made by companies, enterprises, institutions and individuals through exemplary success win voluntarily improving the quality of life of people and communities. It is also to recognize corporate initiatives in the areas to achieve inclusive growth and inclusive sustainable development.

'We believe that while several companies have traditionally been undertaking CSI initiatives to the betterment of the communities around, the contributions of these companies in this direction is becoming more streamlined, this is an attempt by companies and corporations to infuse corporate innovations in the form of approach, usage of technology, expertise to developmental challenges faced by the society, individuals and communities as a whole', Isaac Adu Gyamfi, Events Director at ION Africa Business Magazine.

Most projects undertaken by companies are expected to follow up innovative solutions to specific problems in the domains of Social, Economic, and Environmental challenges. The awards will be chosen based on varied subjects from women empowerment to education, skill development and livelihood, environment sustainability, health, water and sanitation, and water management.

The 2017 awards seek to appreciate project specific impacts made by the companies, organizations and individuals in particular thematic areas, to set benchmark in project planning, identifying beneficiary partners/communities and achieving results.

The 2017 Sustainability and Social Impact Awards is slated for 15th December at La Palm Hotel
